Everyone is talking about Jane Horrocks performance (and understandably so, she did amazing!!) but what I keep thinking about is the beginning when the Emcee enters and introduces her. There are bruises all the way down his arms and his expression isn't welcoming anymore when he reveals his arms and he yells, if not screams Sally's name. And then comes Sally breaking down in her song and the tragic end to the musical. Amazing writing!

That’s got to be very difficult, to sing in a way that shows the character is not a very good singer but at the same time not sing so badly people can’t stand to listen

Jane Horrocks is a phenomenal singer who can hit perfectly every note she is asked to sing. Folks here commenting that she can’t sing clearly have no idea who Horrocks is, or what she can do. This style of singing flat and off-key notes, desafinado, whatever, was a specific choice for the show.

Jane Horrocks captures everything about this character so perfectly and on so many levels. She's both funny and haunting at the same time and her performance of this song is filled with so much intention and the ending is bone chilling.

When i was a kid in the 90s, i remember an interview with one of Groucho's kids where they said that whenever things were difficult at home, they always knew that they could go over to Uncle Harpo's house where they always felt safe, loved, and where it was always loud with laughter and fun. Because of Harpo, i make sure that when my Nieces are with me, they feel safe to express themselves. They know that: if they do something wrong, we will simply talk it out with empathy; that i am always proud of them, because they are such kind and amazing humans. They can bang on instruments, create a mess, and know that they can speak their greatest worries, or hopes. My brother and his wife are better parents than i could ever be, i just think that every kid needs an Uncle/Aunt Harpo. Rest in joy, Harpo! 🤍🙏🕊

I adored Harpo Marx, I was a massive fan from early teens to now!! He was a great comedic genius. I so miss watching the Marx Brothers films… howling with laughter 😂
